The door must have left open,
I began concluding self,
as my footsteps softened.
Counting the quiet in between my absences,
Petals have gathered round the corners,
like little welcomes whispered in colors.
And there they are…my shoes,
still holding yesterday’s hues.
As if the time has paused right here,
resting on stone worn by years.
A place where my doubts begin to pale,
and I know I can finally exhale.
In my shoes, retracing the start,
to the version of me within my heart.
The one that never truly left,
just like my shoes,
it waited there quiet and kept.
